I was three years old when I learned how to leave a room without moving. I was lying in a hospital bed, far from the world I understood, unable to run anywhere with my body. So, I went somewhere else.

I built places in my head, I crossed distances nobody could see, and I became very good at disappearing into imagination before I even had words for what imagination was. Years later, I thought creativity was something I had chosen,

and only recently did I understand that I had been practicing it since I was three. The worlds I make now, with images, machines and AI, feel futuristic from the outside. But somewhere underneath all that technology is still that little girl lying still, learning that the mind has doors the body cannot lock.

Unity Eagle came much later, but I think she was born in that room, not as a character, as a way out.
