This is the 50th anniversary of me going into kindergarten. Yep, 1976 I started kindergarten at Forest City Elementary School in Forest City, North Carolina and I remember the first day. The way our school was designed was my classroom actually had a sliding door in the back. We were very trusting back then because if you had that today in a way my local community is now unfortunately they'd have broken in and stole a whole bunch of stuff but back then they got away with it you know and that's how I had the first day and they told my mom you gotta drop him off in the front. I don't remember my mom crying she might have I don't know but she was my mom was kind of stoic for the most part not really that emotional and I remember it was difficult because I'm autistic and have ADHD and kind of suffered from depression anxiety so yeah I'm not exactly a social butterfly. Our class was actually three different classes in one room. We had a kindergarten class, a first grade class, a second grade class and I was super smart. Still am actually unfortunately. I need to talk about that one day. Anyhow and some of the things I remember was I used to be fascinated with a weather guy out of Charlotte North Carolina on WBTB Channel 3 Clyde McLean. He would literally draw the map and draw the systems and such so one day on the big blackboard remember those things I draw a map of the United States and literally the high pressure systems low pressure systems cold fronts warm fronts occluded it's all that jazz teacher shot goes gets the principal the principal's like no the principal who knows my mom by the way they went to school together and he's like whoa so yeah also I they actually gave us a booklet to do math problems now we were only supposed to do one page of it but I'd been taught so well by my mom in my preschool that I actually could do really good at math so I went through that edition book literally boom boom boom boom boom boom I finished the whole book teachers like what she checked it I could every single one of those bloody problems right how could she punish me I misunderstood her did the whole book in the same time the kids were doing one or one page which I think if I'm not mistaken was front and back so it wasn't exactly a war and peace style of you know war and peace sized math problem book or anything like that and also I would occasionally get caught going over to the second grade class and kind of hanging out with them to learn what they were learning because I got bored with kindergarten which led to midway through my mom tried to get them to jump me up to second grade because my teachers were like he could probably do second grade work but the problem was they didn't believe in skipping grades anymore they were like they wanted my social development it would impinge my social development which is kind of odd because when I got to high school and that started hanging out with people that were in that second grade class I got to have be hey do better with them that I would my own peers in my own class so yeah that worked out well so yeah 50th anniversary of my first year of kindergarten my year my only year of kindergarten is this year I'm old really old bye
