So LeBron James is leaving the Los Angeles Lakers and coming back for an NBA record 24th NBA season in his quest to try and be declared the greatest of all time. I know a lot of young folks are gonna probably go yeah he's the greatest of all time unless you understand what Jordan was like in the 90s. He was a fantastic player in the 1980s. You could even make a case back then he was one of the greatest of all time. And he had never won anything. He didn't win any titles in the 80s because the Lakers were much better, the Celtics were much better, the Pistons from 88 to 1990 were really good in the East too. The Bulls weren't quite there yet but they were really good you know so you can't just say well Jordan never won anything. Jordan was on the cusp of winning something and a lot of people considered the greatest of all time even before he won his first title in 1991. Then 91 comes along he wins three in a row then his father dies in 1993 after the third title he retires goes play baseball for a year so the strike happens in baseball it goes into 1995 Jordan opts to not break the Union and comes back to basketball he only has like about a month or so before the playoffs begins I think that's how much it was and he comes back he wears number 45 for a time until he the NBA allows him to wear 23 again it didn't really materialize that year because the there was not with the chemistry they used to have and Horace Grant had left to go to Orlando not by his own he didn't do it voluntarily so he had a chip on his shoulder and helped Shaq and the Magic beat the Bulls in the playoffs they of course went to the finals that year before losing to the Rockets and then of course the next season after that 1996 they get Dennis Rodman and they just went another three until Jerry Krause at the end of the 1998 season goes we're not bringing back Phil Jackson we're not gonna continue the dynasty and Jordan retires for a bit there's a rumor he may buy into the force the Charlotte Hornets but George Shinn stupidly doesn't allow him to do that he decides not to go to the Hornets and comes back a couple years later plays for the Washington Wizards of all teams for a bit they're pretty decent Jordan still looks really good but it's clear he's not the player he once was but he's still a really really really elite basketball player and then eventually retires in 2003 considered by many the greatest of all time but here's the kicker there's one person never called Michael Jordan the greatest of all time and that is Michael Jordan LeBron James is campaigning to be the greatest of all time and that's why he'll never be considered by most basketball fans the greatest of all time there are some people who put him in the top 10 the problem LeBron James is he's a glory chaser Michael Jordan built a championship team over the decades LeBron James chased the ring he went to Cleveland then went to Miami went back Cleveland with the Lakers and now rumor is he's going to Golden State so in my mind this is about just trying to win that last ring that maybe just maybe somebody might consider me the greatest of all time no LeBron you're not the greatest of all time and you never will be
