Saturday is the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence being read aloud in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States of America, and I'm old enough to remember the 200th. I was only five at the time, but I do remember it. Not a whole lot of it, but I do remember we were downtown and I had a balloon, the balloon slipped from my hand, it went up the tree, it got stuck in the tree, and I whined and cried like five-year-olds do. Well, I'm not losing any balloons this time, but I'm not whining and crying about it, but I am making this observation. We are not the country that we thought we would be in 1976 when we looked ahead 50 years. I thought we would be much more freer, much more independent, much more of a world leader, much more into higher economic development, much more scientifically advanced, quite frankly. Oh, but John, we got these smartphones on. This isn't what I mean. The frustrating part is a lot of this is bread and circuses. My biggest fear right now is that we're seeing the decline and possibly even fall of the United States of America. I hope to God I am wrong, but I fear that I'm not. We have people who wave the flag and love America and all this, but don't realize the people they vote for are working for people who really don't care about the future of this country. As a matter of fact, I think, honestly, some of the benefactors of certain politicians would love nothing more than the country to fall into complete chaos and tear itself apart so they can pick the bones to ride for their own personal wealth. Case in point, Peter Thiel, who has spent a lot of money on J.D. Vance and Donald Trump, is now living in Argentina. Hmm, I wonder why. Is something up? Well, I'm not a conspiracy theorist kind of guy, but I'm also someone who knows patterns when he sees them. We're entering the robber baron era again. For those of you who may not be familiar with history, the robber barons basically were rich people who pretty much bled poor people dry. Poor people tried to stand up for their rights and such, the union movement and all that, civil rights, things like that. The robber barons didn't hesitate to try and crush movements like that. And now we're seeing something like that akin today. And this time, they're using technology to make sure they can find the people who are standing up for their rights and make sure they don't do that anymore. Yeah, it's not fun. And it doesn't feel American to me. We live in a corporate run oligarchy. Where a few people who aren't even elected are making the decisions for us. And it's really, really... By the way, if I sound a little distracted, there's a granddaddy spider in my room. They're not poisonous, by the way. So I'm kind of figuring out what to do with this guy. Anyhow, the country isn't what it once was. I need to go into detail on a blog post or something like that. Because honestly, the 250th anniversary of our independence, I ain't feeling it.
